2021/Model for creating a university statute

Abstract

This article presents a personal stance regarding the sessions of the university council held at a Chilean state university to draft its new statutes, in the context of the constituent process that took place during 2021 and 2022. Based on the above, it raises a reflection on coexistence within a university community characterized by diversity. Ultimately, the university council made internal fractures within the university community evident. The proposal for a university statute did not aim to establish a general and pluralistic framework for the long-term development of the university, but rather prioritized addressing current specific problems and conflicts.
