Access and exercise of management positions in the university field: Women, power and the glass ceiling

Abstract

The aim in this case study is annalise the perceptions about accessibility, execution, and osbtacles experimentented by women in power position in university organization. The research was developed from a qualitative perspective, which, through semi-estructured interviews, will delve into the discourses and meanings of six women in management position at the University of Chile and the University of Valencia. The main results are transversal to the contextual and territorial particularities of the study cases, which show the persistence of androcentric and patriarchal model in the accessibility, such as the glass ceiling, as well in internal institutional dynamics, expressed in cultural, social an even organizational barriers or practices, which still affect the posibility of building equal and fair spaces in the university positions of high responsibility.
