Abstract

Understanding curriculum as a social construction and based on the theoretical contributions of national and international curriculum specialists, the aim is to focus on how curriculum management at the school level can (and should) be oriented towards the formation of citizens with competencies that allow them to understand and transform social reality. We will advance through a theoretical discussion regarding the concept of curriculum itself, the projections of this as a discourse; the implications of its management at the school level, and the process of curriculum adaptation and appropriation that each educational institution must carry out when implementing the current course of Citizenship Education in third and fourth grade and the consequence for the rest of the curricular architecture at school level.
